Simi Khanna is a professional musician and former Head of Music at Vyners Secondary School in West London. Spending time with nieces, nephews and friends' children, Simi discovered that there was a lack of high quality music lessons for young children and toddlers. Bringing together her passion for music and love of young people, she founded melodybox with the aim of involving parents in their children's musical and educational journey.
Simi embarked upon her own musical quest aged just two years, when she transformed her mother's pots and pans into a bespoke drum kit. Since then, she has classically trained in several instruments including piano, guitar, voice and viola. Her talents have gained her a distinction in vocal studies from the Academy of Contemporary Music, a music degree from the University of Bristol with a first class honours in performance, a PGCE in music from the University of Roehampton, which alongside teaching she puts to good use as a professional voalist and songwriter
Having grown up in a large family and surrounded by a tribe of nieces and nephews, Simi is not afraid to be silly and find the fun in most situations. For Simi, music is all about enjoyment, building confidence and self-expression – all elements she highlights in her lessons. She has gained over ten years' experience of teaching and working with young people. Simi has perfected a unique melodybox music curriculum that enables young children to explore their own creativity in a safe and welcoming environment.
